At some point during the night, I slide open my patio door because I want to smell the world. Sitting on Melissa's roof, I noticed that the westerly moon is emanating mackerel scale clouds across the Arizona night sky. I ask Melissa to tell me where Venus is, because I have been trying to teach her about astronomy. She finds it on her second guess, and also Mercury. It is a perfect 79 degrees outside, and we sip beer. I spent the whole, beautiful evening with a friend I have known forever, a friend I have known for almost forever, and I friend I felt like I've had forever. We run into many other friends, many friends who make me euphoric. We laugh. We dance. We look at art! We talk with interesting people and see people that we do not want to talk to. We people watch. We make fun of scene boys and couples with the exact same haircut. We talk of the art we saw and enjoy each other. Donny and Ryan trade off playing the guitar and making up silly songs. Jesus. Beautiful.
